He is a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, singer, record producer, and music teacher. St. Croix Virgin Islands native, Kirby D. Trim was born to minister through music! Encouraged to remember his duty ‘to serve the Lord” Kirby has been a very active minister of music in his local church and surrounding church communities. Growing up he fell in love with Jesus through his parents’ prayer & Bible reading devotions, the music his mom sang and played at home, and the sermons passionately preached by his dad – Bishop Desmond Trim.
Now at almost 25 years in music ministry, his contemporary-yet-traditional sound and style is definitely influenced by:
- Andrae Crouch
- The Grace Thrillers
- The Hawkins
- Carlene Davis
- The Winans
- Harella Goodwin
- Ronny Neale,
- The Regenerated Singers
- Fred Hammond,
- Shine The Light
- Rev. Milton Brunson & Thompson Community Singers,
- Kirk Franklin
- Israel Houghton.
It was at age 7 he recalls playing a ‘tuned guitar’ for the first time. Almost immediately, he was allowed to join the church band. He’s been giving his musical gift back to his creator ever since!
Throughout his youth, Kirby studied with some of St. Croix’s & St. Maarten’s finest music teachers. Right after High School, his parents sponsored his self-produced debut CD release “Changed Man” at age 18! From even then, listeners recognized his wide musical palette and an ear for detail.
His journey eventually led him from St. Croix (initially to study computer engineering at FIU), to South Florida where God’s sovereign will opened opportunities for him to continue honing his craft while recording and producing for South Florida gospel artists at PenTab Records.
As a result of that opened door, Kirby has produced and/or recorded with Karen Williams, Glacia Robinson, Pastor Emmanuel Smith & The ART Singers, Pastor S. Robert Stewart & The PenTab Singers, Mark Brown and Focus, Pauline Brash, The Gunters and others.
Kirby's sophomore solo CD - "I Wanna See Him" officially released on Jan 5, 2016 and is available at CdBaby, iTunes, Amazon, and GooglePlay. Many will perceive it as an everyday irresistable blend of funky grooves, soul-stirring ballads, and uptempo adult contemporary. This album has obtained (4) 2016 Rhythm of Gospel Award Nominations: EP/Digital Album of the year, Contemporary Christian Worship/R&P Song Of The Year, Rhythm of Gospel Artist of The Year and the Instrumental Artist of the year. This album has also been nominated by the 2017 Tampa Bay Gospel Awards for Alternative Artist of the year. Having accomplished as much as he has with his many talents, Kirby’s heartfelt determination and greatest ambition is to maintain a persuasive Godly lifestyle and make music that brings honor and glory to the name of Jesus.
Kirby met the love of his life, Kanece in 2002 and they married in 2007. They serve in ministry at Pentecostal Tabernacle International in Miami Gardens Florida, under the pastoral care of Pastor S. Robert Stewart.
